About Me

My name is Ryan, and I'm currently living my dream. At some point over the last year or so, the idea started to linger in my mind. I was living a great life in Atlanta – I owned a home, had a great-paying job with great people, and a large social circle. But I slowly started realizing that it was all so comfortable. I’d get into a nasty habit of making the safe choice if I had an option. Life was easy. Maybe too easy. So I started considering how life would be if I turned it on its head. If I took my snow globe of serenity and shook it up. And it stayed as an idea in the back of my mind for a while. At first, I looked at it like a dream and that’s all it was. There were too many obstacles to overcome. I’d be crazy to do something like that and leave such a great life behind. But as I read more, listened more, and learned more…it slowly became more realistic, more viable, and less scary. Sometime in early 2016, I decided it would happen and then it was just a matter of figuring out what needed to be done. 6 months later, I was on a plane to Santiago, Chile with no return ticket. This blog will hopefully serve several purposes: to keep friends and family back home apprised of my travels, and give readers insight into what life looks like when you get outside your comfort zone. I welcome feedback or questions, and I hope you enjoy reading!
